Radio Wimborne Ltd was founded in 2013 and started broadcasting in January 2014 - and they said it would only last 6 months!  With the help of Wimborne BID who provided some seed funding and our very generous volunteers who have put so many hours of work into setting up and running the station, we have grown and developed into a successful community project.  No one gets paid at Radio Wimborne, we all do it for the love of it!  We now play a key part in the community at outside events and festivals - it's no longer just about 'air time' - it's about helping other volunteer run organisations to have their own successes.  We have worked with Bournemouth University media students, had work experience young people, hosted live concerts and welcomed live performers into the studio.  We want to promote this town and the surrounding area and enable local people to access news, music and events where they may otherwise not be able to attend in person.

We are currently an on line station - it's easy to listen, just click on the links on the home page - you can then set these to favourites on your smart phone or PC.  Or you can ask Alexa or Google to simply play Radio Wimborne!

Our company is made up of four Directors but there are certainly other key members of our volunteer team or perform essential roles in addition to their presenting of shows.

Malcolm is the founding Director and the design guru in our RW family.  His businesses - Gullivers Bookshop and Square Records support the station. Malcolm loves a bit of drama and co-hosts Monday's Lunchtime Live with Kelly.

Kelly has been here since the outset, helping set the station up, train volunteers and manage the website and any other back office Admin.  That's after co hosting Monday shows with Malcolm.

Paul has a local business Thomas and Woolvern who support the station with all that accountancy stuff!  He's also a mean guitarist and singer as one half of Men in Black and has been known to play at some of the gigs and events that we arrange.

We simply wouldn't be here without Chris, his technical expertise enable the station to be set up in the first place and he keeps all the kit going on a day to day basis with our 'super tech' Glen Fowler.
