Ever try to imagine what those faces are like behind the voices? Well it's not always a nice surprise (but don't tell anyone we said that)! Here you can (virtually) meet our volunteer presenters and Directors!
Your Local Community Radio Programmes
We have live shows every day here on Radio Wimborne - you can spot them, they're the ones in blue font (see each 'day' page). Some of our shows are repeated later on in the week - just in case you missed your favourite presenter or some breaking news about town!
If you miss the repeat too, you can always check our Listen Again page to see if the latest edition of the show you're after is still up there!
What is a Sponsor?
You can support your local radio station with a regular affordable advert, or you can help in a longer term way but becoming an annual station sponsor (you get the Ad too)! To find out more on both of these options, click on the link boxes below.
Radio Wimborne is all about our local community and we just love our town and all the lovely people in it! We decided to do a Pied Piper exercise around town to show you all our favourite places and people. As people joined us on our tour of the town, the crowd grew and the traffic stopped! See if you can spot anyone you know! The video features amongst others, some of our presenters, town Firefighters, Police, The Dorset Youth Marching Band, local tradespeople and some dancers from local theatre company! Go on, have a look and see who or what you recognise!
Steve White's Saturday Sports Round Up Show continues each week 15:00-17:15 on our main station output which you can listen to via our website, Alexa, Google or TuneIn.
Wimborne Town home games are covered live by our presenter Owen Sheppard. Just click the link below.
FM Coming Soon!
Having been online since January 2014, getting our FM licence last year was fantastic news. For the last year we have been planning and fund raising to make the dream come true and we're nearly there! Just a few more bits to add and a tick in the box from Ofcom and we're away!! We will be coming to a radio in your kitchen and car very soon.
Covid-19 and Radio Wimborne
The Radio Wimborne studio was locked down following government guidelines in March 2020. Most presenters accepted the challenge of not having a studio by constructing and recording their shows from thier own homes. They are then sent in via the wonder of the Internet where our technicians schedule the shows via a remote link.
UPDATE Aug 2020. The studio is gradually being brought back into use by inviting presenters to resume their allocated live slots but only by conforming to very strict guidelines of social distancing and sanitising routines. Guests are strictly forbidden currently but we hope to back to normal as soon as we can.
